A Reddit user took to the social media site and shared a new scam by taxi drivers which has been gaining momentum. Going by an anonymous name, the woman shared an incident that happened with her mother. She explained that her mother was flying out of Bangalore T2 and had booked her cab to the same. “(For those of you who might be unaware, Uber shows you the list of different airlines while flying out of Bangalore and books your ride to either T1 or T2 based on the airlines you choose)” she explained.

She further explained that on the way to the airport, the driver told her mother that the drop location is T1 and not T2. Even though the woman knew that it wasn’t T1for several reasons, the driver kept on insisting. “The driver kept insisting that the drop location was wrong and demanded an extra 75 rs to drop her off at T2. My mother, believing that it might be a genuine mistake, agreed to pay the difference and got dropped off at T2,” she wrote.
When she checked the app on entering the airport, Uber showed that she booked the ride to be dropped off at T2 and not T1 as the driver was insisting. The objective of the woman was to make more and more people aware about the scam gaining momentum. Here is what she wrote on Reddit:

The woman further mentioned that a complaint was made on Uber and they had to refund the difference amount.
Taking to the comment section, many people shared similar instances. “I got off at t2 and booked ola. app showed 921. Driver insisted to cancel and rebook as cash payment or else he won’t take it. so I cancelled and rebooked with cash payment and now it showed 800. So I was happy and went ahead. At the end of the ride, the actually cash amount in app showed 621rs but he refused to accept and said he has never got less than 800rs for this distance in his lifetime of driving with ola from airport,” commented a Reddit user.

Another person wrote, “If it’s feasible, ask the driver to drop you at T1 only. There are free shuttle services between the terminals, use it. Then raise a complaint to Uber/Ola that the driver dropped you at wrong location. I understand, it may not be possible for older people or people having a lot of luggage or if you are traveling with kids. But if you can do it, go ahead. They will stop the scam once they see it getting backfired.”
