India proved to be the better team in their previous fixture against South Africa at the Eden Gardens. The match saw Virat Kohli smash a record-equalling 49th ODI century to help India establish a total of 326 runs. In the second innings of the game, Indian all-rounding veteran Ravindra Jadeja produced a bowling masterclass and scalped five wickets. His impressive haul helped the hosts curb the African nation at a mere score of 83. This secured a historic 243-run win for India, as they remained unbeaten in the competition.
India is currently on a phenomenal run at home, beating some of the biggest teams including Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, England, and South Africa. They are currently undefeated and are set to compete in the semi-finals once the group stage is over. They will be facing either Pakistan or New Zealand in their knockout game on November 15 at the iconic Wankhede Stadium. It will be interesting to see if the Rahul Dravid-coached side can make it to the final and overcome their trophy drought at home.
