Die-hard fans of Emraan Hashmi, eagerly awaiting updates on his upcoming films, were left surprised and happy on Sunday afternoon as the makers of Power Star Pawan Kalyan’s much-anticipated project, OG, unveiled Emraan’s look from the film on his birthday.
In the film, Emraan will play a gangster named Omi Bhau. The poster features him in a beard and long hair, apart from a visible scar on his eyebrow. He is seen lighting a smoke. “Happy Birthday Omi Bhau,” reads the poster. Sharing it, the producer of the film, DVV Danayya wrote, “Happy Birthday deadliest OMI BHAU…@emraanhashmi. Couldn’t imagine a clash more electrifying than with #OG #TheyCallHimOG.”
Sharing the poster on Instagram, Emraan wrote, “ambheera, Suna hai tu Bambai Aa raha hai . Vaada karta hoon : hum dono mein se kisi ek ka sar zaroor katega #TheyCallHimOG.” The film, gangster drama, directed by Sahoo director Sujeeth, it will see the Murder actor playing a negative character in what serves as his Telugu debut.
In an exclusive conversation with News18, Hashmi had earlier opened up on the film. He had said, “It’s an ambitious film and is mounted on a big scale. It’s a pan-India film and this is the audience who may have known me as an actor but have not necessarily seen my films. I also wanted to explore a larger audience and work in this unfamiliar territory and penetrate down South, something that I hadn’t done before.” Without revealing too much about the character, the actor had added, “The character that I am playing and the world that Sujeeth has created for OG are very fascinating. I also feel fortunate working with Pawan Kalyan who has such an amazing screen presence.”
Emraan was last seen in the Disney + Hostar’s series, Showtime.
