Om Raut’s film Adipurush, which was a retelling of the Hindu epic Ramayana, disappointed cinegoers last year. Now, the audiences will get to witness the epic once more on the big screen. Filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari, known for his blockbuster hit Dangal, is making his rendition of Ramayana with Ranbir Kapoor reportedly playing Lord Ram. While the cast has not been officially unveiled as of yet, multiple reports have stated that Kannada actor Yash and south actress Sai Pallavi have been finalised for the roles of Ravana and Sita respectively. While the reports of this casting have been doing the rounds for a while now, latest reports talk about the casting of Lakshman, a key character in the epic. If reports are to be believed, TV actor Ravi Dubey is being eyed for the role of Lakshman. An official confirmation about the same is still awaited though.
Ravi Dubey has made a significant mark in the television industry, solidifying his position, both as an actor and a producer.
He started his career as a model before transitioning into acting in 2006. He made his acting debut with the parallel lead role of Ravi Agarwal in the DD National television show Stree… Teri Kahaani, which was produced by actors Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu. Subsequently, he portrayed the character of Veer in Sahara One’s soap opera Doli Saja Ke. He later secured the male lead role in Yahan Ke Hum Sikandar, where he portrayed the character of Ravi.Throughout his career, Dubey has appeared in approximately 40 television commercial ads for various brands including Reliance, TVS Victor, Mrs Marino, Gee Pee Mobile, Nestle, ICICI, Action Milano Shoes, Fairever, Santro, and Water Kingdom. He was also a contestant in the eighth season of Khatron Ke Khiladi.
There is a lot of ambiguity around Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana as none of the reports that are being heard are confirmed. It was also heard that Sunny Deol agreed to take on the role of Lord Hanuman. It is expected that the team will make an announcement regarding the movie on Ram Navami, which is on April 17.
