New Delhi: Faced with the daunting task of controlling spiraling prices, the government will be setting up a high-powered committee to monitor the situation.
Sources tell CNN-IBN that the committee is likely to be set up within the next two days. Either a cabinet or agriculture secretary would most likely head it.
The committee's task would be to monitor prices of all commodities on a day-to-day basis.
The government wants a proper mechanism to monitor price rise situation and it also wants to monitor the effects of the slew in fiscal and supply set by the Cabinet just took on Monday.
In terms of policy measures, the government wants to calibrate its policy in tine with the evolving situation.
The inputs from the high-level committee will go a long way in policy measures and policy interventions across sectors.
