New Delhi: With a huge demand for Cost Accountants in IT, ITES and manufacturing sectors, the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India is redoing its syllabus to catch up in these sectors.
The institute would introduce two to three new courses, including one to cater to the needs of BPO and IT sector, from the coming academic year, ICWAI's South India Regional Council Chairman D L S Sreshti told PTI.
Stating that there was a huge demand for CAs in the booming IT and Manufacturing sector, which could not be met by ICWAI, he asked the younger generation to tap opportunities in India and also in Dubai, Nepal, Botswana and Zambia, which could fetch them salaries similar to the IT sector.
SIRC plans to organise a two-day regional cost convention on the theme of "enterprise excellence-enhancing value through management accounting."
The seminar would be of immense help to industry, especially to SMEs (Small and medium enterprise) , who are under constant pressure to reduce costs, J Sridhar, chairman of the convention committee told PTI.
The seminar would also focus on how IT can be leveraged to attain the goals of cost managements, he said. S Mahalingam, CFO of Tata Consultancy Services would deliver the keynote address.
