New Delhi: India's leading car manufacturer Maruti Udyog Ltd (MUL) has hiked the prices of most of its cars by Rs 2,000-12,000. The news prices came into effect on Thursday, said a MUL statement.
Prices of Baleno and Gypsy King were increased by Rs.12,000 while WagonR and Zen Estilo saw a hike of Rs 3,500. The increase in Maruti 800, Omni, Alto, Swift (Petrol) Vxi and Esteem has been Rs 2,000.
In the recent past, there have been significant increases in input costs of the company as also the operational costs of its dealers. The company has decided to pass on a part of this burden to its customers, the statement said.
The hike in the prices of its cars will go towards the dealers' margins to help them provide better services to the customers, it added.
