David Warner’s admiration for India and its culture is an open secret and the Aussie southpaw has a special connection with the city of Hyderabad as well.

Mostly observed in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Ugadi commemorates the commencement of the Telugu New Year. A famous South Indian festival, Ugadi is celebrated on the first day of the month of Chaitra. This year, Ugadi is being celebrated today.

On this auspicious occasion of Ugadi, legendary Australia cricketer and former Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner extended his best wishes to fans and followers. “May this Ugadi fill your life with happiness, prosperity, and success. Happy Ugadi,” read the caption of the post shared by Warner, who enjoys an incredible fanfare on social media.

David Warner’s admiration for India and its culture is an open secret and the Aussie southpaw has a special connection with the city of Hyderabad as well. Thanks to his sublime batting and impeccable leadership qualities, Warner is considered one of the legends of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Led by David Warner, Sunrisers Hyderabad had won the IPL title in 2016 getting the better of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (then Royal Challengers Bangalore) in the summit clash.

David Warner won the Orange Cap on two occasions in 2015 and 2017. With 4014 runs under his belt, Warner is the highest scorer in the history of Sunrisers Hyderabad. He has so far represented the Hyderabad-based franchise in 95 matches. Warner enjoys a sublime average of 49.55 and an impressive strike rate of 142.59 for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He has till now notched two centuries and 40 half centuries for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

David Warner’s love for India and its people is quite evident from his social media posts. Previously, he had shared an Instagram post that depicted a majestic view of the iconic monument Charminar, located in the city of Hyderabad.

“I have been asked by a fan to post a pic of the last place I visited when I was in Hyderabad besides the golf course? Well this is not my picture but I did visit this place!! Can you name it,” David Warner wrote in the caption.

Sunrisers Hyderabad severed their ties with David Warner ahead of the IPL 2022 season. Warner is currently plying his trade for Delhi Capitals in the current edition of the IPL. Having played five games till now this season, Warner has scored 158 runs and a half century.
