Delhi Capitals allrounder Axar Patel has said that ever since skipper Rishabh Pant made a comeback, he has brought back all the fun and banter in the team’s dressing room.
DC, under the leadership of Pant, will kick off their Indian Premier League 2024 campaign with a match against Punjab Kings on Saturday.
Axar, along with his DC teammates, landed in Chandigarh on Wednesday.
“Everyone is coming off good performances in their respective domestic and international outings. It’s been a great atmosphere in the team. We have had good intense training sessions in Vizag before our opening game,” Axar was quoted as saying in a video shared by the franchise on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
“It’s a new season, we are starting afresh. Mainly the conversations with the coaches have been around the execution of plans and most importantly how to keep things simple in the tournament,” Axar said.
“I’m sure everyone would have said that it’s great to have him back in the team, but personally, I missed him a lot, missed our banter both on and off the field last year. But, now that he is back, all the banter and fun have started alongside serious conversations around the game. I’m just looking forward to having more fun with him this season,” he added.

DC’s IPL 2024 season opener against PBKS will also mark the return of their skipper Pant. He will return to competitive cricket after suffering a life-threatening accident in December 2022.
Pant had sustained multiple injuries that required surgery and extensive rehabilitation.
The 26-year-old was given the fitness clearance by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) earlier this month and after this, DC officially named him as their captain for this season’s IPL.
In Pant’s absence, the franchise played under the captaincy of David Warner last season.
