Another day, another young Indian talent was uncovered in the IPL. And today, it was all about KKR’s Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who put up a stellar fifty on his debut for the Kolkata franchise in their outing against the Delhi Capitals in Vizag today.

The 18-year-old batter, who was India’s highest run-getter in the 2022 U19 World Cup where he amassed 278 runs in just 6 innings, was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders for a meagre Rs 20 lakh, a steal in the eyes of all now.

And today, at 18 years and 303 days of age, Raghuvanshi became the second youngest player to score a fifty for KKR in their franchise history, topped only by none other than talisman Indian opener Shubman Gill.

Today, when the lights shone bright, Raghuvanshi took to the DC bowlers and punished them alongside the likes of one blazing Sunil Narine as the duo lit the Vizag skies up with sixes galore.

Angkrish’s innings of 54 runs from just 27 balls, which was peppered with 5 fours and 3 sixes, took the match away from Delhi along with a 104-run partnership with Sunil Narine, who put up a whopping 85 off 39 deliveries himself.

He was finally dismissed by Anrich Nortje, who bowled a shorter ball wide of off stump, to tempt the youngster to take a wild swing at it. Angkrish’s late timing meant that the ball couldn’t find the face of the bat as needed and went down to Ishant Sharma at third man for an easy catch.

Despite the disappointing end to his innings, fans and players alike all acknowledged the young gun’s sensational outing as all in attendance, with the inclusion of Shah Rukh Khan, stood to pay their respects and more fans took to social media to sing praises of the youngster.

KKR now are on the hunt to set a seemingly improbable target for DC, as the Kolkata side will aim to clinch their third consecutive win and remain undefeated.
