The LSG skipper, KL Rahul has surpassed the 400-run mark in IPL 2024 while Jasprit Bumrah maintains his dominance at the top of the wicket-taking charts.

IPL 2024 Orange Cap and Purple Cap Standings: Top 5 Run-Getters and Wicket-Takers After LSG vs MI:  The Lucknow Super Giants bounced back to winning ways as they beat Mumbai Indians by four wickets at the Ekana Sports City, Lucknow.

The home side was able to get the win thanks to a clinical powerplay performance by the bowlers to get rid of the top-four batters in MI’s batting unit within the first six overs. This then resulted in MI registering a meagre target of 145 runs.

LSG’s debutant, Arshin Kulkarni was off to a disastrous start as he was gone for a first-ball duck. However, the skipper, KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis steadied the ship with a fifty-run stand. Despite Rahul’s dismissal, Stoinis managed to get to a half-century which then led the home side to register the win and get back to winning ways.

Virat Kohli: The leader in the run-scoring charts, Kohli has been a shining gem in what has been a disastrous start of the tournamemt for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Despite the side getting back to winning ways, one constant that has remained for the franchise is Kohli being amongst the runs which showcases his class.

Ruturaj Gaikwad: Despite the added responsibilities of being the captian of the five-time title-winning franchise, Chennai Super Kings, Gaikwad has been able to be amongst the runs and does not look to be overburdened by the pressure that is demanded of the skipper. He is second in the orange-cap race and could very well be at the top if the side are able to make it through to the playoffs.

Sai Sudarshan: The young left-hander has been one of the bright positives for the struggling Gujarat Titans. Despite the batter being consistenly scoring the runs, the franchise seems to have difficulties in maintianing their consistency that they have show in the past two seasons.

KL Rahul: The LSG skipper will have an added motive to perform well especially with the bat in the ongoing season of the IPL. Having not been picked in India’s T20 World Cup squad, he will have a point to prove. He has already scored a total of 406 runs in the season and will be expected to continue performing especially with the bat.

Rishabh Pant: The comeback season is well and truly on for the wicketkeeper batter who is also leading DC. Pant has been outstanding in the ongoing season of the IPL and is Delhi’s leading scorer with the bat. With a tally of just under 400 runs, he will be eyeing to score more runs for his team and potentially even justify his spot in India’s starting XI for the World Cup.

Jasprit Bumrah: The Mumbai Indians ace has been outstanding with the ball in a struggling side. Despite MI struggling to find a place in the top-4,  Bumrah has consistently showcased his class in the bowling aspect. The pacer went wicketless in the game against LSG but plugged up the runs by conceding only 17 runs in his quota of four overs.

Mustafizur Rahman: The left-arm pacer has been outstanding for the Men in Yellow as the Chennai Super Kings continues to rely on the Bangladeshi pacer and he delivers with wickets on a regular basis. His variations and his ability to bowl quick makes him a big threat for most batters.

Harshal Patel: The leading wicket-taker for the Punjab Kings has been a cog in their system. However, despite the franchise struggling to maintain a consistent streak of wins, Harshal has continued to show why he can be a reliable bowler to take wickets on a consistent basis.

Matheesha Pathirana: The slinger from Sri Lanka has taken his game to a new level. Now he is not just a wicket-taking threat but is also able to keep the runs concdeded to a minimum. His performances will prove to play a crucial role in CSK’s season.

T Natarajan: The left-armer has shown why he can be a reliable member to bowl in all three phases of the game. The SRH pacer has been pivotal in the wicket-taking front where SRH now finds themselves battling for a spot in the playoffs and the quick bowler can have a decisive role to play in how their season pans out.
