'IPL?': Stuart Broad's Brutal Jibe at Virat Kohli in ICC Post Talking About Indian Star's Trophy Cabinet
Virat Kohli has scored just 75 runs from seve matches so far in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Former England pacer Stuart Broad has taken a brutal jibe at Virat Kohli’s 17-year wait for an Indian Premier League (IPL) crown. India recently beat England by 68 runs to book their place in the T20 World Cup 2024 final. Following India’s victory at the Providence Stadium on June 27, ICC shared a post talking about the Indian legend. The caption read, “The last jewel remains missing from the crown of the king. Virat Kohli one step away from T20 World Cup glory”.

Broad soon responded to the post by writing, “IPL?” The England ex-cricketer hinted towards the Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s decades-long drought when it came to winning an IPL crown. Broad later deleted his comment from the post. However, several fans took screenshots of the pacer’s comment and shared it on X.

Indian fans couldn’t help themselves from responding to Stuart Broad’s comment, with many of them lashing out at the ex-cricketer. One of them wrote, “After he got 2013 replies and along with he got Yuvraj Singh 6 sixes in 2007.”

Another fan wrote, “6 sixes in an over?”

Other fans felt that the English ex-pacer had the hit this time. One of them wrote, “Sorry as an Indian, but he owned this time.”

Another agreed and wrote, “OK Kohli fan but this time Stuart had the hit”.

One fan claimed people didn’t understand the exact meaning of Broad’s post. He wrote, “People are taking it in a wrong way. His comments are in the context of the caption in the post, which says the king’s crown will be complete. According to Broad, the IPL trophy should also be there.”

The ongoing T20 World Cup hasn’t exactly been a tournament to remember for Virat Kohli. The star batter was brimming with good form in the IPL 2024, scoring 741 runs to win the Orange Cap. Yet, he hasn’t even crossed the 100-run mark in the seven matches he played at the ICC event. Kohli has reached double digits only twice with 24 and 27 runs against Afghanistan and Bangladesh, respectively. The Indian batter also conceded two ducks versus the USA and Australia. He added just nine runs in India’s recent semi-final triumph over England.

Despite Virat Kohli’s struggles, India reached the T20 World Cup finals. A master class from Indian all-rounder Axar Patel saw him score 10 runs and take three wickets against England. India will next face an Aiden Markram-led South Africa in the ultimate game. The highly-anticipated clash will take place today, June 29, at the Kensington Oval Barbados.
