As the Indian team prepare themselves for their third fixture in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, where they take on the co-hosts USA at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, the Indian coaching team revealed that they have been having talks with the experienced all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja to help him get back to form.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the game against the USA, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey revealed that the head coach, Rahul Dravid along with Vikram Rathour have been around Jadeja and there have been conversations between each other to help get the best out of the left-hander.
“I think it’s a team game, right? It’s going to be 11 guys. You don’t expect all of them to come into form. It’s going to be performed every game that will happen. For me, I feel whatever conversations Rahul and Vicky are having around, I’ve been pretty happy with it. And you expect a one-odd game out there,” Mhambrey mentioned.
Jadeja has been India’s premier all-rounder across all formats but despite his lack of form in the T20 format, the Indian selectors backed his experience over form in the ongoing tournament. In the recent games against Ireland and Pakistan, Jadeja did not have much involvement with the pacers taking the game with the ball while Rishabh Pant has been the shining light with the bat.

Mhambrey feels that Jadeja has all the experience needed to thrive and it’s just a matter of one good game to help him get back to his very best. The bowling coach remains confident that Jadeja possesses the skills needed to win games for the country single-handedly and could prove to be an asset for the side going deeper into the tournament.
“It’s a long tournament. I think…someone like Jadeja, who’s so vastly experienced, he just needs a game out there to just get his roots around and feel around. And we know that the skills that he has and the experience, he’s going to go ahead and he’s going to win your games. So that confidence we have in not only Jadeja but honestly with someone like Dube and others as well,” he said.

“You can have one odd game and people will have conversations saying you are given a game, and you’re going to have one bad game. That’s fine, but the team will back you. And that’s what is important in a tournament like this,” he added.
The Indian team will be looking to seal their spot in the Super-8s with a win over the USA and will hope that Jadeja can find his best form as the tournament progresses and help the side potentially secure their second T20 World Cup.
