Not Virat Kohli or Sachin Tendulkar! Yuvraj Singh Picks 37-Year-Old Indian Star To 'Bat For His Life'
Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has mentioned Rohit Sharma's name when he was asked to pick one player he would like to bat for life in a recent interview.

Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has ignored the likes of legendary Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli to pick 37-year-old Rohit Sharma as one player he would like to bat for his life. Like Tendulkar and Kohli, who are arguably the two greatest batters of all time, Rohit also has made a big name for himself, and he is only behind Sachin, Kohli, Rahul Dravid, and Sourav Ganguly in the list of leading run scorers for India in international cricket.

He has more than 10,000 runs to his name in ODIs, and he finished his T20I career on June 29, 2024, as the all-time leading run scorer.

During an interview with Sportskeeda, when Yuvraj was asked, “Which cricketer would you pick to bat for your life?” He mentioned Rohit’s name.

Rohit, who became the third Indian captain to win an ICC trophy in June 2024, made his T20I debut for India in the T20 World Cup 2007 match against England at Kingsmead in Durban on September 19, 2007. He, however, didn’t get a chance to bat in that match where Yuvraj created history by becoming the first batter to hit six sixes in an over of a T20I match.

Yuvraj was also asked to pick the better captain to play under between Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, and MS Dhoni during the same interview, and he picked Ganguly over the other two.

“They all have been captains, and I have played with Dhoni and Ganguly for a long time. But I think I started under Ganguly, so I would say Ganguly.”

Rohit to lead in Bangladesh Tests

Rohit is all set to lead India in the two-match Test series against Bangladesh, which will start on Thursday (September 19). The series opener is scheduled to take place at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, whereas Green Park Stadium in Kanpur will host the second red-ball match from September 27 onwards.

India has won 11 out of 13 Tests played so far against Bangladesh, but despite that, it can’t afford to take Najmul Hossain Shanto & Co. lightly, which defeated Pakistan in the last series played earlier this month.
