Rajasthan Royals spinner Ravichandran Ashwin responded perfectly when asked about his template for Wednesday’s IPL match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians. The epic clash between the two franchises saw a whopping 523 runs being scored across the two innings, with the bowling department on both ends having a rather forgettable evening. Addressing the carnage at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, a cricket fan asked Ashwin on X about what his template would be for Wednesday’s game.
This was in reference to the previews and match reports that the veteran spinner frequently uploads on his YouTube channel. Responding to the question, Ashwin simply said, “Sick leave,” jokingly suggesting that the high-drama affair has resulted in him taking a day off from his YouTube work.

Match No. 8 of the IPL 2024 between SRH and MI on March 27 was one for the record books. Both teams had lost their tournament openers and were looking to get their first win of the season. SRH had lost to the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens by four runs, whereas the Gujarat Titans beat the Mumbai Indians in Ahmedabad. Given the stakes, the two sides locked horns, eventually becoming the highest-scoring match in IPL history.

MI won the toss and put SRH into bat first at Uppal. After losing Mayank early, Travis Head smashed 62 runs in a mere 25 balls, belting nine boundaries and three sixes. Abhishek Sharma carried the momentum perfectly as he added 63 in just 23 deliveries. However, it was Heinrich Klaasen who had the best batting performance of the night, as he produced a 34-ball 80. SRH eventually broke the record for the most runs scored in a single IPL innings in the tournament’s history. They surpassed Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s previous tally of 263 runs with a score of 277/3.
In chase, the Hardik Pandya-led MI produced a valiant chase to reach the near-impossible target. A 64-run knock from Tilak Varma and a 22-ball 42 from Tim David saw MI put up 246/5, losing the match by 31 runs. While SRH are back to winning ways, the MI squad will be looking to recover from their mistakes. Their new skipper, Hardik Pandya, likely will be subject to a lot of heat, given Mumbai’s poor start in IPL 2024.
As for Ravichandran Ashwin, he will be in action when Rajasthan Royals’ take on Delhi Capitals at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium, Jaipur
