Rohit Sharma Enraged After Bizarre Dismissal As IND Skipper Plays Himself Onto Stumps - WATCH
A visually disgruntled Rohit had no option but to leave the crease, as India were once again dealt with a suckerpunch.

Just when the tide seemed to have turned for India, a stroke of unfortunate luck clipped itself onto Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and his stumps, as he was dismissed bizarrely against New Zealand in Bengaluru on Friday.

Despite their strong start to Day 2 with the ball, India were left absolutely gobsmacked by the likes of Tim Southee and centurion Rachin Ravindra, who put up a fantastic 137-run stand, as New Zealand put up 402 runs before being bolwed out.

Down 356 runs, it was pivotal for India to get going out the gate, and that is exactly what happened as Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal put up a dazzling start, scoring 72 runs.

Ajaz Patel found the breakthrough for NZ, as he got the better of Jaiswal for a stumping. But skipper Rohit continued to wreak havoc, going on the offensive as he walloped consecutive boundaries off Matt Henry to reach his 18th Test fifty.

Then, with Ajaz back in the attack with the ball, Rohit prodded forward and defended off the inner half, and right when he thought he’d played a solid forward defence, the ball ran off the face and bumped into the stumps as the Indian skipper was now forced to leave the crease after playing himself onto the stumps.

A visually disgruntled Rohit had no option but to leave the crease, as India were once again dealt with a suckerpunch.

But, thankfully for the home side, the duo of Virat Kohli and Sarfaraz Khan would come on and go on the attack, pummeling the NZ bowlers for sixes and fours galore in confident fashion to help India rebuild after their skipper’s dismissal.
