'Someone’s Trash is Someone’s Treasure': Murali Kartik' Controversial Remark on Yash Dayal Leaves Netizens Fuming
Murali Kartik faced backlash from cricket fans on social media for his controversial commnet on RCB pacer Yash Dayal.

Cricketer-turned-commentator Murali Kartik was brutally bashed by cricket fans over his controversial comment on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Yash Dayal on Monday night. The left-arm quick was in action against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match no. 6 in Bengaluru when Kartik remarked, which only irked a section of fans.

Dayal was into the attack in the Powerplay and had finished his second over, with exceptional figures of 4 for 2, when Kartik said, “Someone’s trash is someone’s treasure”, referring to Dayal who has been playing his first season for the RCB.

The left-arm quick had a horrific season last year in which he was belted for 5 sixes in an over by his state teammate and KKR batter Rinku Singh in a group stage game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans. The incident shattered Dayal’s confidence who was benched for a brief period before returning to the playing XI. Eventually, the Titans released him before the players’ auction in Dubai where he found a new home in RCB.

Kartik probably referred to Dayal’s hammering last season against KKR as he made the statement while calling the game which wasn’t welcomed by the fans on social media.

Meanwhile, comedian Danish Sait, who has been associated with RCB as ‘Mr Nags’, took to microblogging site X (Formerly Twitter) to express his disagreement with Karthk. “How do you say someone’s trash is someone’s treasure? You just called Yash Dayal Trash on air! Like what even,” Sait wrote.

Far away from the social world, Dayal was in his zone on Monday night, being the most economical bowler for RCB against Punjab. He conceded just 23 runs in his 4-over spell and picked up the prized wicket of Sam Curran, who scored a 17-ball 23 with the help of 3 boundaries.
