Star Indian batter Virat Kohli was seen asking Bengaluru fans to raise their voice and cheer for Team India on the fifth and final day’s play of the ongoing first Test against New Zealand. India need nine more wickets on Sunday (October 20) to win the series opener against the Black Caps after Jasprit Bumrah removed Tom Latham on the second ball of the day’s play. The Kiwi captain was trapped in front of the wickets by world No. 1 Test bowler. He failed to open his account.
In a video going viral on the internet, Kohli can be seen gesturing fans to raise the volume and cheer even louder to lift Indian players spirits in the ongoing match.

Kohli, who failed to open his account in the first innings of the Bengaluru Test, scored 70 runs in the second innings on Friday. He added 136 runs for the third wicket with Sarfaraz Khan, who topscored for the Rohit Sharma-led side by making 150 runs.
New Zealand needs 107 runs in the fourth inning to win its first ever Test match on Indian soil since 1988. The Kiwis gained the upper hand in the fixture after dismissing the hosts for just 46 runs in the first inning on the second day’s play. India bounced back by scoring 462 runs in the second inning and taking an overall lead of 106 runs in the match.
India has managed to defend the target of 107 runs or less in Test cricket only once in the past. During the India-Australia Test played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, 2004, India dismissed the Aussies for 93 runs to secure a famous win by 13 runs. In that match, Harbhajan Singh picked up a five-wicket haul, and three Aussie batters were sent back to the pavilion by Murali Kartik.
