The said clash was held at the Narendra Modi Stadium and it began with MI winning the toss and electing to bowl first. A 31-run knock from Shubman Gill and 45 runs from Sai Sudharsan helped GT to 168/6.
MI lose Ishan Kishan for a four-ball duck in the chase.
Rohit Sharma and Brevis helped the side recover and the duo put them on a solid footing.
However, GT bowlers including Azmatullah Omarzai, Umesh Yadav, Spencer Johnson and Mohit Sharma put up a fine show to curb MI at 162 runs.
MI are next set to play the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday. The contest will be played on SRH’s home turf at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
