The Ministry of Education (MoE) has rolled out the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024 rankings today August 12. The NIRF Rankings are now available at the official website and candidates can access the lists at nirfindia.org. The Ministry of Education releases the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings in 16 categories including Overall, Medical, Engineering, Law, Management, Dental, Pharmacy, and others.
According to the ninth edition of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) report, there were 7 Indian Institute of Technology’s that were ranked in the top 10 colleges in the overall category. Notably, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras maintained its ranking among the nation’s top-ranked educational institutions in the “overall” category for the sixth time.

To enhance transparency and foster competition, the Ministry of Education under the Government of India evaluates and ranks Higher Education institutions in the country. As per the official website, the NIRF Ranking evaluates institutions based on several factors including teaching-learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduation outcome, outreach, inclusivity, and overall perception. The total 100 per cent weightage is distributed as follows: 30 per cent for teaching-learning and resources, 30 per cent for research and professional practice, 20 per cent for graduation outcomes, and 10 per cent each for outreach and inclusivity, and perception.
