Boney Kapoor's happy to see his four children finally 'getting along'. He also speaks about how he has never been a father to meddle in their dating choices.

The current generation of the Kapoors, arguably, is the grapevine’s favourite topic of speculation. Sometimes it’s for their films – lost and gained, sometimes due to scrutiny surrounding their fashion statements and sometimes for their dating lives. Much like many of their contemporaries, they’ve managed to pique the curiosity of fans and netizens who indulge in and sometimes even fan the chatter and buzz around their romantic relationships.

Arjun Kapoor and Malaika Arora reportedly began dating in 2018 and a little birdie tells us that they’ve managed to manoeuvre the many ups and downs in their relationship. In the last season of Koffee With Karan, Janhvi Kapoor confirmed that she’s indeed gone back to ex-flame Shikhar Pahariya. In the same episode, link-up rumours about Khushi Kapoor and her The Archies co-actor Vedang Raina were also addressed. Anshula Kapoor, on the other hand, made her relationship with screenwriter Rohan Thakkar Instagram official.

And now, in an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Boney Kapoor, says that he has ‘thankfully’ never been the sort of father to talk to his children about their dating choices. “It’s their personal life. I can talk to them just once or twice and share my opinion. But the thing is that children, today, mature much faster as compared to our generation. You can’t push them into toeing the line or thinking in the way you do,” he tells us.

Talking about how he trusts his children’s instincts and preferences and believes in just letting them be, he continues, “They’ve their own minds. The world has shrunk today, which wasn’t the case in our times. We took our own time to understand how the world functions. It’s easier for them to form their own opinions.”

However, the veteran producer, who’s gearing up for the release of Maidaan, has no qualms in admitting that he hasn’t approved of their relationships all the time. Without dropping any names, he says, “Such a situation has never risen when I had to drill something into their heads. Having said that, I’ve resented a few situations in Arjun, Janhvi and Khushi’s relationships but I’ve asked them to handle it on their own. It has always been that way.”

His divorce from his first wife Mona Shourie Kapoor and eventual marriage with late cinema legend Sridevi Kapoor led to a strained relationship with his children, Arjun and Anshula. The death of Sridevi, however, helped iron out the wrinkles in the equations between the half-siblings, leading to a reconciliation. Today, Anshula, Arjun, Janhvi and Khushi are one strong unit.

Prod the Mr India and No Entry producer about the same and he shares, “This isn’t just a good thing but the ultimate thing. We’ve been going on holidays together. We’ve been to Singapore to celebrate Anshula’s birthday. I also went to London sometime back with Janhvi, Khushi and Anshula. Arjun came there for two-three days as well. It feels good to see them getting along. With all of them together around me, I feel the world is with me.”
