Arsenal Gunning To Clinch All Possible Trophies Says Martin Odegaard

5 games, 21 goals, 15 points: the turn of the new year has seen Arsenal dominate in the Premier League, soaring high just like their spirits as they approach their UEFA Champions League tie against Porto.

With the Gunners just two points off table-toppers Liverpool in the Premier League and still in contention for the title, club captain Martin Odegaard believes that the North London side will be looking to clinch all major silverware they could get their hands on.

“That’s what we want to do, we want to compete in every competition we play in,” said the Norwegian.

“Of course Champions League is a massive one, so we are excited for it. We just want to focus on ourselves each game, keep improving every game and we will see how it goes.

“We are in a good moment now. We have to use that momentum, keep building on it and we will see.”

Arsenal started off the season, poised to be the table-toppers, as they dominated the league with ease. But, a vein of inconsistent form plagued the ranks of the Gunners as they approached the end of the previous year, which set them back.

Another issue that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have had to actively deal with is the lack of a proper striker. With Gabriel Jesus unable to perform for the Gunners consistently, being injury-stricken, the onus fell on the likes of young Bukayo Saka and skipper Odegaard to lead from the front.

And they sure have with Saka netting 12 goals so far this season, and Odegaard chipping in with 5 goals and 6 assists of his own to show for.

In fact, Arsenal’s goal-scoring woes have dissipated in the past couple of matches especially, with the London Reds scoring 11 goals in their last two PL appearances, whilst conceding none.

“I think that’s what we were missing a little bit in the last few weeks before the break. We created so much but we didn’t score the goals,” Odegaard said.

“But within the last few games, we’ve been brilliant in front of goal. We get so many people in the box and so many situations around the box.”

Up next, Arsenal will take on Porto in the first leg of the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League on Thursday.
