Arsenal Suffer Massive Benjamin Sesko Summer Transfer Blow, Says Report
Arsenal had been frontrunners to rope in Sesko and the London giants were understood to be the Slovenian’s preference if he was to leave the German club. However, recent reports claim that the striker will be extending his association with RB Leipzig.

RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko was heavily linked with a potential summer transfer to Arsenal. The Premier League side are looking for a striker to bolster their attacking unit. Arsenal were reportedly interested in signing the 21-year-old. It is now being learnt that Sesko is all set to renew his contract with Bundesliga side RB Leipzig. An article published by the Mirror reported that Sesko, who has a £55 million release clause, travels to Germany today with the Slovenia national team and wants to make a smooth decision over his future. Mirror even claimed that Sesko’s agent Elvis Basanovic communicated to relevant parties that the player will be extending his association with RB Leipzig.

The report went on to suggest that Arsenal had been frontrunners to rope in Sesko and the London giants were understood to be the Slovenian’s preference if he was to leave the German club at all. Another source even stated that English clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United were ready to meet Sesko’s buy-out clause.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, a transfer market specialist, recently shared an update on Sesko’s potential move to the Emirates Stadium. Romano went on to claim that Sesko will not leave RB Leipzig this summer.

“Benjamin Sesko has decided to stay at RB Leipzig and sign new contract on improved terms! Decision made for talented striker, similar to what Haaland decided back in the days at BVB. Sesko will stay at Leipzig with a new gentlemen agreement for future exit,” read the post shared by Romano on X (formerly Twitter).

The Athletic reported that RB Leipzig are expected to announce Sesko’s brand-new deal on Wednesday. The report went on to claim that Sesko gained attention from teams like Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United and those English clubs had asked for clarity over Sesko’s situation before the commencement of Euro 2024.

Sesko had a tremendous season for RB Leipzig where he netted 18 goals in 42 matches across all competitions last season. Arsenal are, reportedly, still interested in signing other options like Alexander Isak, Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen.
