Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho on Monday escaped from a freak accident in Kozhikode in Kerala when a traffic signal pole collapsed in front of his car he was travelling in.
Ronaldinho was in Kozhikode to inaugurate Nagjee football tournament that is being held after 21 years. He landed in the city on Sunday.
The former Brazil and Barcelona star was scheduled to attend a function in a government school on Monday when the signal light collapsed in front of the car he had just boarded.
The structure of the signal light had been defunct for several years. The police, however, said "the signal light collapsed in a stampede".
