Andhra Pradesh minister Gudivada Amarnath and Rajya Sabha member Y.V. Subba Reddy launched the 100-meter-long and three-meter-wide floating bridge on Visakhapatnam’s R.K. Beach. Starting on Monday, tourists can access the floating bridge for a fee of Rs 100 for adults and Rs 70 for children. With the bridge, tourists have the rare chance to explore the ocean and take in the expansive vista of the shore.

The floating bridge was made at a cost of about Rs.1.60 crore. District Collector A. Mallikarjuna said that this floating bridge will attract tourists. He said that the safety of the tourists has also been given top priority.

An officer from VMRDA will be available to supervise the maintenance of the floating bridge. When the tourists cross the bridge, two boats will continuously move back and forth parallel to the bridge. There will also be yard swimmers. With these precautions, tourists will have little to fear. The management has been given guidelines to make sure that trained staff is constantly on hand to provide tourists with information as they approach the bridge.

The District Collector emphasised that all departments have given their approval and that numerous precautions have been taken to ensure the safety of tourists. Only 15 people will be allowed on the floating bridge at a time, and life jackets are to be worn all the time. The bridge is closed during typhoons, high tides, new moon and full moon. On open days, the bridge will be available for use between 8 AM and 6 PM

Speaking at the event, Subba Reddy reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to boosting travel to Visakhapatnam, pointing out the city’s advantageous position and scenic surroundings. Additionally, this will improve youth employment prospects in the community. Minister Amarnath echoed the concerns expressed by the Rajya Sabha member, stating that the state government is working to draw tourists to Visakhapatnam from both domestic and foreign sources. Rushikonda Beach in the city was just awarded an international Blue Flag certification.
