Manchester United star Mason Greenwood’s impressive stint in La Liga has reportedly attracted the interest of premier clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The Englishman arrived in Spain at the beginning of September this year and has produced some impressive performances for Getafe. However, his explosive performances have not convinced Manchester United enough to take him back.
As per The Sun, interest from clubs like Barcelona and Real Madrid could set Greenwood up for a mind-boggling transfer in the upcoming days. However, no concrete statements have been made about Greenwood by either the coaches or the administration of the clubs.

Greenwood was arrested in January 2022, having been charged with attempted rape, assault and coercive control. The charges dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in February after some key witnesses had withdrawn from the case.
This led to Manchester United initially considering integrating him back into the squad but a backlash from the fans forced the club’s hand into loaning the player off to Getafe.
A 22-year-old Greenwood moved to Getafe on the transfer deadline day. Since his arrival, the Englishman has shown top class in his performances in the top flight of Spanish football. This has earned him the praise of stars like Antoine Griezmann.
The Atletico Madrid forward recently singled out Greenwood during their clash this week on December 20. The match saw Atletico and Getafe finish at a scoreline of 3-3 to secure a point each.
As per several media outlets, Griezmann said, “Mason Greenwood was really causing us problems in the second half…We couldn’t stop him and it cost us the game”.
Greenwood had no goals or assists in Getafe’s home fixture against Atletico Madrid but the stats do not show the full story. The loanee was constantly involved in building plays, helping his side be on the offensive throughout the match against the La Liga giants.
Griezmann even scored a brace in the game but it just wasn’t enough to emerge victorious at the Civtas Metropolitan Stadium in Madrid.
Greenwood has scored a total of five goals this season while providing an assist four times in 15 appearances. The draw against Atletico puts them in eighth place on the league table. Their next La Liga clash will be held next year on January 2 against Rayo Vallecano at home.
