Milan: AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani says that they are not keen to sign Napoli playmaker Marek Hamsik or Palermo star Javier Pastore.
Galliani revealed last month that they are searching the market for a left-sided midfielder and hinted toward Kwadwo Asamoah of Udinese, Hamsik and Tottenham duo Gareth Bale and Rafael van der Vaart as possible targets.
However, AC Milan patron Silvio Berlusconi later dismissed that they will make a move for Hamsik, who played an instrumental role in Napoli finishing third in Serie A in 2010-11, and now Galliani has backed his boss's comments.
"We have the need for one player - you know the characteristics," he said referring to his earlier comments about a left-sided midfielder.
"Are there affairs between us and the third-placed team in the league? Theoretically yes. From a political point of view there is no problem but when we talk about Hamsik, they respond 'you can't touch him' and we won't touch him."
Galliani had earlier rejected reports of AC Milan making an approach to Palermo for playmaker Pastore, and he reiterated his stance.
"Pastore? We aren't looking at him," he said. "He is a more like a striker and we are searching for a left midfielder."
Galliani also tempered talks of signing Standard Liege's Axel Witsel, and remarked: "Witsel? He's a decent player but it's too early to talk about these things."
Reports in the Belgian media suggest that Liege's vice-president Luciano D'Onofrio held talks with Galliani on Tuesday over a possible transfer of the 22-year-old midfielder.
