New Delhi: Former AC Milan forward Ronaldo has yet to pick the destination for his return to football, but Siena chief Giovanni Lombardi Stronati is still trying to lure him with a big money package: 100,000 Euros per goal.
The Fenomeno has been out of action since snapping a tendon in his knee while playing for the Rossoneri against Livorno last February. His contract with the Diavoli expired in June and he is now a free agent.
The Brazilian hitman has gone through months of rehabilitation and has been training with Brazilian outfit Flamengo over the past month and a host of European sides have showed an interest in securing his services.
Siena were also said to be in the frame earlier this month and the Tuscan outfit's president seems eager to continue his pursuit of the marksman.
"Ronaldo? That is indeed one of our projects and we are currently working on it," Lombardi Stronati revealed to the Gazzetta dello Sport.
"I heard that he is considering retiring from football, but I am willing to give him one last chance. I have spoken to his agent and I offered him 100,000 Euros per goal. I am truly prepared to splash the cash for him, as his goals could help my team beat the drop this season."
"We play beautiful football and Marco Giampaolo is a great tactician, but we somewhat struggle to hit the back of the net. What if my plan falls flat? I will go for an Argentine who plies his trade in Chile; his name is Gaston Cellerino."
