New Delhi: Champions of the third Hockey India League will take home a cheque of Rs 2.5 crore alongwith the glittering trophy, while the runners-up will be richer by Rs 1.25 crore, HIL announced on Monday.
Besides the top two teams in the tournament, the side finishing third will be awarded with a prize money of Rs 75 Lakh, according to the HIL.
HIL 2015 will also recognize select players who have showcased outstanding performance on the field.
Individual awards have been announced to decorate these players as the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament, Upcoming Player of the Tournament, Motivator of the Tournament, Maximum Goals of the Tournament and Fair Play award.
The Most Valuable Player of the Tournament will get an award of Rs 25 Lakh, Upcoming Player of the Tournament and Motivator of the Tournament will be awarded Rs 20 Lakh each and Maximum Goals of the Tournament for the team will be awarded Rs 10 Lakh.
The Fair Play winner will receive a trophy for displaying great sporting spirit on ground.
Speaking on the announcement, Narinder Batra, chairman, Hockey India League said: "Hockey India League has provided tremendous opportunity to budding players from across the world. The prize money is a token of recognition to motivate the young talent."
"Hockey India is committed to promoting the sport amongst hockey lovers. I am happy that the League is moving in the right direction to achieve our multiple objectives of providing a platform for training and recognition to Hockey players," he added.
