New Delhi: Indian women hockey midfielder Namita Toppo on Wednesday said the team will look to play to its strengths in the Hawke's Bay Cup to be held in New Zealand from April 11 to 19.

The tournament will witness India, Argentina, Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, USA and New Zealand fighting it out for the title.

"Discipline will be the key for the upcoming challenge. The teams are strong and we aim to keep it simple and play as per our strength," Namita, who was awarded emerging player of 2014 by Hockey India (HI) on March 28, said in a release.

"The team is growing in confidence and this is because of our understanding what the other team is planning and we immediately adapt the game plan," Namita, who hails from the tribal district of Sundergarh in Odisha, added.

"This helps in time not getting wasted, not losing possession and outwitting the opponents."

Captain and centre-half Ritu Rani praised Namita on what she brings to the table.

"She adds strength to the midfield position and gives the required support to both the forwards as well as defenders," Ritu said of Namita.

"She is growing with each game and works on her loopholes very seriously."

Namita was part of the team that clinched the bronze medal at the Junior World Cup 2013.
