The Crown Actor Dominic West On His Equation With Prince Harry: ‘Don't Talk Anymore’
West admitted that their friendship had unraveled over a decade ago, lamenting the missed opportunity to seek guidance from Prince Harry for his role in The Crown.

In a recent interaction, actor Dominic West, widely recognised for his portrayal of King Charles III in the acclaimed Netflix series The Crown, spoke about the apparent absence of communication between himself and Prince Harry. The actor disclosed that their once amicable relationship took a downturn due to an incident surrounding a press conference where, as West puts it, he “said too much.” During the December 24th episode of Sunday Morning on Times Radio, West delved into the specifics of this rupture, prompted by queries from host Kate McCann.

The main and immediate reason for their falling out, as West narrates, transpired a year after their joint participation in the Walking With the Wounded Charity event in 2013, a tour that took them through Antarctica alongside injured veterans.

Despite the actor’s reluctance to provide explicit details, he subtly hinted at his comments during a 2014 press conference, where he praised Prince Harry’s hands-on involvement in the team. “Harry was very much part of the team. He seemed to specialise in building latrines. He built this incredible castellated structure with blocks to keep out the wind, and it even had a toilet roll holder,” West explains.

Reflecting on these past remarks during the interview, the 54-year-old Wire actor admitted to potentially over sharing details about their experiences. West went on to explain that their friendship had unraveled over a decade ago, lamenting the missed opportunity to seek guidance from Prince Harry, now 39, on portraying the character of Charles.

In a separate revelation earlier this month, West had explained another aspect of his involvement in the show, sharing that he intervened to prevent his 15-year-old son, Senan West, from playing the role of young Prince William in Season 6. The actor cited discomfort with the storyline, particularly a scene set at Balmoral Castle where he would have to inform a young boy of his mother’s death. While acknowledging his son’s commendable performance in the previous season, West confessed to reservations about this particular portrayal, a decision he deemed fair, although it was potentially unfair to his son’s aspirations.

On the other hand, Prince Harry has confessed to watching The Crown and expressed a level of comfort with how the producers narrate his family’s story in comparison to other projects, reports Page Six.
