- First, check your load of laundry and rearrange it if it's bunched up or stuck to one side.
- Make sure your washer isn't too full, which can also cause a U6 error.
- Try cleaning the pump filter or recalibrating the washer before contacting Samsung for support.
What does error code U6 mean?
Error code U6 is an "Unbalanced Load Error." If your Samsung washer detects that the current load is not balanced (such as bunched up to the side or tangled in a knot), it will stop mid-cycle and display error code U6. The washer will not start until the error is addressed and the user presses the Start button once again.
How to Fix Error Code U6
Balance your clothes in the machine. If your machine stopped and displayed error code U6, first open the washer and make sure your clothes are still distributed evenly around the drum. Untangle any clothes that are knotted together and evenly distribute your clothing around the inside of the washing machine.
Remove some of your clothes from the washer. Filling your washing machine too full can cause your washer to not work properly (or even flood). Open the washer, remove some clothes (staying within Samsung's max fill recommendations), and wash the clothes you removed in another load.
Ensure you selected the correct cycle. If you selected a cycle that is too light for the weight of clothes you're washing, this can cause error U6 to crop up. If an incorrect cycle is the culprit, change the cycle type before continuing.
Make sure your washer is level. If your washing machine is not sitting on a flat surface, it can cause the washer to display error U6 erroneously. Check the area around your washer with a level to make sure that it's flat, or consider moving your washer to a more-level location (if possible).
Check and clean the pump filter. If your Samsung washer has an accessible pump filter, you can find it on the front of your washing machine. It looks like a small, rectangular door near the bottom of your washer's front. Press on the cover to open the filter, then locate the rubber hose inside of the opening to empty the pump filter. Remove the cap from this hose and drain the water into a container big enough to hold it all. Remove the pump filter with a counter-clockwise motion, and clean it with a toothbrush or other soft-bristled brush before reinserting it into your washer. Reattach the washer's drain hose before attempting to use your washer again.
Run your washing machine's calibration mode. If your washing machine isn't responding to troubleshooting tips, you can try calibrating it. Start by removing all the clothes from your washer and double-checking for small items. Press and hold the Temp. and Delay End buttons simultaneously for three seconds until "Cb" appears on the display. You may need to complete this step while the washer is on, or start with the washer off and then press the Power button while still holding down Temp. and Delay End (depending on your model). Press Start/Pause to begin calibration. Your tub will rotate back and forth for one to three minutes while calibrating. Once the calibration is complete, the washer will turn off and is now ready for use.
Contact Samsung for service and support. If none of your troubleshooting attempts work, you should contact Samsung for service on your washer. You can do this by heading to Samsung's service website and clicking Request a Repair.
