Things You Should Know
  • Spectacle Island is in the southeast part of the map. You'll need to swim across the channel or walk across the floor in power armor to reach the island.
  • To unlock the island settlement, flip the breaker in the sunken ship on the southern tip. Then follow the power lines to the metal shack and flip the breaker inside.
  • Read the check list in the metal shack before flipping the breakers to avoid a bug. Also, brings lots of powerful weapons for a difficult fight.

Getting to Spectacle Island

Locate Spectacle Island on your map. If you pull up the map in your Pip-Boy, you can find Spectacle Island in the southeast corner of the map. It is an isolated land mass just east of The Castle or Warwick Homestead. These are the nearest Commonwealth mainland locations to Spectacle Island.

Cross the channel to get to Spectacle Island. Travel to either The Castle or Warwick Homestead. You'll see Spectacle Island from the shore. You can either swim across the channel to Spectacle Island or walk across the bottom of the ocean while wearing power armor. Swimming across the channel is the quickest and easiest way to get to Spectacle Island, but you will endure some radiation. Bring some Rad Away in your inventory.

Fast-travel to Spectacle Island. Once you have reached Spectacle Island, you can fast-travel to it.

Unlocking the Settlement

Reach level 20 or higher (recommended). There is a tough battle involved in unlocking the Spectacle Island settlement. It is recommended that you reach level 20 or higher before attempting it.

Bring some strong weapons. You will need to fight a swarm of Mirelurks and a Mirelurk Queen (possibly a Mirelurk Deep King), so come ready for a fight. It is recommended that you pack a couple of mini-nukes and some explosive weapons, such as grenades.

Locate the metal shack at the base of the radio tower. It's in the center of the island. Inside the metal shack, you will find a workbench that you cannot use just yet. Bug Alert: There is a potential glitch in the game that will prevent you from powering up the radio tower and unlocking Spectacle Island. To avoid the glitch, it is recommended that you visit the shack, read the checklist, and interact with the workbench before turning on the power, even though you can't do anything with it just yet.

Find the sunken ship. To find the partially sunken ship, locate the power lines just outside the shack. Follow the power lines to the partially sunken ship. It's on the southern tip of the island.

Flip the circuit breaker. It's inside the sunken ship on the first floor. Once you flip the circuit breaker, Mirelurks will swarm the area.

Survive the ambush. You can either fight off the Mirelurk swarm or run from them. However, if you don't defeat them, they may interfere with your work on the island. There is some loot around the island that may help you survive the fight.

Flip the circuit breaker in the metal shack. Follow the power lines back to the metal shack. Flip the circuit breaker inside the shack. Once there is power to the radio tower, you'll have unlocked Spectacle Island. You can now build and establish a settlement on the island. The generator on the ship provides 20 units of free power to the settlement.

Noteable Loot

Fat Man. You can find a Fat Man on the partially sunken ship in the same room where you flipped the circuit breaker.

Luck Bobblehead. You can find a Luck Bobblehead in a locker on the top floor of the partially sunken ship.

Mini Nuke. You can find a Mini Nuke on the first floor of the destroyed mansion. It's sticking out of some debris on the ground. You can find the mansion on the northwest tip of the island.

2 Nuka Cola Quantums. They can be found in a broken fridge in an underwater wrecked home. Locate the hut where Randy is found. Travel west towards Warwick Homestead. Dive 30 to 50 feet underwater to find the wrecked home. There is a skeleton in a wheelchair in the house. If the Nuka Cola Quantums are not in the fridge, check the entire area to try to find them.
