The association complained to Telangana DGP Anjani Kumar about the fake video and requested him to take appropriate action.

A viral deepfake video showing Rashmika Mandanna entering an elevator has once again underlined how artificial intelligence (AI) can be misused. The video has ignited a wave of anger and led to the demands of adequate legal safeguards. Several actors, including Amitabh Bachchan, also addressed the pressing issue. Now, the Telugu Film Journalist Association has also expressed its strong support for the actress.

In a recent development, the association complained to Telangana DGP Anjani Kumar about the fake video and requested him to take appropriate action. Led by President Lakshmi Narayana and General Secretary Y.J. Rambabu, the association insisted on quick action against the ones disseminating the viral video. DGP Anjani Kumar, upon receiving their complaint, assured them of the resolute action.

Following the timely intervention of TFJA, Rashmika Mandanna thanked the association members and said this would provide a sense of confidence to the affected people that they are safe. Speaking of the purported video, it shows the actress in a revealing, form-fitting outfit as she enters an elevator. However, on Sunday, it was revealed by a journalist named Abhishek that what initially appeared as a candid moment was, in fact, a deepfake video. The original video had a British Indian influencer Zara Patel which she shared on Instagram on October 9. The journalist posted both the deep fake video and the original video, emphasising the need to address deepfake issues in the country.

Besides Rashmika’s Goodbye co-star Amitabh Bachchan, celebrities who called for legal action included Mrunal Thakur, Naga Chaitanya, and Chinmayi Sripaada as they stepped forward to address the misuse of AI.

Meanwhile, Rashmika is all geared up for her next release ‘Animal’. directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the film is expected to leave everyone stunned with Ranbir Kapoor playing a character that has never been seen on-screen before. The film will also feature Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol playing the pivotal role. It will hit the theatres on December 1.
