Independence Day celebrations at a Hardoi school took a troubling turn when 14 children fell ill after eating jalebi, a sweet distributed to students following the day’s program. The incident occurred at Nera Composite School in Kachhauna development block shortly after the distribution of the treat following the day’s festivities.

Students, from ages 5 to 10 years old, began experiencing severe stomach aches and vomiting shortly after eating the jalebi. They were promptly rushed to the Community Health Centre in Kachhauna for medical attention.

The situation caused a significant stir, prompting a swift response from local authorities. Sub-District Magistrate Dr Aruniya Shrivastava immediately arrived at the health centre and SDI Krishna Kumar Tripathi also arrived two hours later. Meanwhile, the absence of teachers during the critical period increased concern among parents and local officials.

Among those who fell ill are Lavkush, a 10-year-old class 5 student; Raksha, a 5-year-old class 1 student; and other children including Jitin, Sulochani, Bharti, Rajiv, Sachin, Abhiyan, Mahima, Aarti, Shivanshi, Chandni, Saurabh, and Ranjana.
