A video of a German woman singing the famous bhajan ‘Ram Aayenge’ is grabbing immense attention. This video comes ahead of the Ram Mandir inauguration in Ayodhya on January 22. News Agency, ANI shared a video of Cassandra Mae Spittmann’s soulful rendition on January 18. So far, her video has over three lakh views and over 14,000 likes. Cassandra Mae Spittmann is 21 years old. She is known for singing Indian songs in multiple languages – Hindi, Malayalam, Bengali, and Kannada. Cassandra was born with blindness but this did not stop her from pursuing music. Her Instagram bio describes her as a “German Singer-Songwriter in love with India.” She has over five lakh Instagram followers.

Commenting on her rendition of ‘Ram Aayenge’, an X user wrote, “Just by hearing the song, one would think that she is an Indian singer. Perfect accent and raga.” Another person wrote, “Amazing. So perfect voice and modulation in hindi. She is really amazing.”

Back in September 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appreciated Cassandra’s singing and her keen interest in Indian music on Mann Ki Baat, his radio program. He played two songs sung by Cassandra on the radio show.

He introduced her to the listeners and said, “What a sweet voice. Through the emotions reflected in every word, we can feel her love for God. If I disclose that this melodious voice belongs to a daughter from Germany, perhaps you will be even more surprised! The name of this daughter is – Cassandra Mae Spittmann.”

It is interesting to note that in recent weeks, Prime Minister Modi has promoted half a dozen Ram Bhajans through his X account. His recommendations include bhajans by established singers like Hariharan and Jubin Nautiyal, alongside younger and lesser-known artists like JJ Vyck and Mahesh Kukreja. In a Mann Ki Baat episode, aired on December 31, he encouraged people to share poems, songs, and bhajans for Lord Ram on social media, using the hashtag – Shri Ram Bhajan.

Back in October 2018, Kuwaiti singer Al-Rashid sang the famous bhajan ‘Vaishnav Jan To’ in front of former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, who was in Kuwait for a bilateral meeting.

The bhajan ‘Vaishnav Jan To’ is often associated with Mahatma Gandhi. MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar shared a video of Al-Rashid’s melodious singing on X. Commenting on it, an X user wrote, “Heart touching, some things transcend all the boundaries and unite us.”
