2 conwomen from UP arrested

Two women from Uttar Pradesh were arrested here on Wednesday for allegedly trying to dupe a T Nagar jeweller with fake gold.

A few days ago, B Kamala (35) and Asha (42) handed over some jewels, which they claimed was made of gold, to the gold appraiser of a private jeweller in T Nagar.

They wanted to exchange the jewels for some gold bangles displayed at the shop. While the appraiser took the jewels for evaluation, the duo slipped from the counter.

Soon after, the jewels they produced were found to be fake and a police complaint was subsequently lodged.

With the help of CCTV footage from the shop, police traced the duo. On Wednesday, they were arrested from the woman’s compartment of a train parked at Central Railway Station.
