Two persons were killed and six injured in an explosion which ripped through a bus in Gaya district on Saturday.

Gaya (Bihar): Two persons were killed and six injured in an explosion which ripped through a bus near a petrol pump on Grand Trunk Road in Bihar's Gaya district on Saturday.

Superintendent of Police Amit Jain said that the explosion took place when a crude bomb, which was being carried by naxalites, went off as the bus approached Maharani petrol pump between Dobhi and Barachati on Grand Trunk Road.

A portion of the bus was also damaged in the explosion, he added.

While two persons died on the spot, six others, who suffered splinter injuries, were admitted to a government hospital at Dobhi. Four of those injured are critical.

Police suspected that the bomb, being carried by naxalites belonging to the outlawed CPI (Maoist), went off accidentally leading to the tragedy.

No arrest has so far been made in connection with the incident, Jain said adding it was not immediately known whether those killed or injured had any links with naxalites.
