A three-year-old boy died after he accidentally fell into a sump at A K Colony in Kodigehalli police station limits on Saturday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Pawan, son of Manjunath, a mason, and Meenakshi.
The police said the family was residing in a rented house at A K Colony and the owner of their neighbouring house Venkatesh was constructing a sump in front of the house. On Saturday morning, Manjunath left for work and Pawan and his mother were at home. While his mother was preparing breakfast, Pawan came out of the house playing. After sometime, his mother came in search of him to serve him breakfast. When she did not find him, she searched for over 30 minutes in the area and finally found his body lying inside the sump that was about five feet deep, the police added.
“The sump was not closed and was filled with rain water. The boy was last seen playing along with a kid. But none have seen how he fell into the sump. A case of negligence has been registered against Venkatesh. He is absconding,” the police stated.
