New Delhi: For these players, there is no retirement from the game. Clearly, age is no barrier as these bunch of old women exercise their limbs to indulge in some very good football.
Trini, an 80-year-old striker, says: "I feel strong, strong, strong! My son says that I must have come from Mars because it's not normal."
For these pensioners in Spain, football is not just a means of immense satisfaction but also very therapeutic. And when they are on the field, nothing stops them from having fun all the way. Like the oldest player here, Maria Dominguez.
"Football is the best. It is the best to beat depression and the aches and pains. I was so bad I couldn't walk but now, football is the best," says defender Dominguez.
And no matter the time of the year, these women are always training under the eye of their coach. If the rains decided to play spoilsport the team calmly moved indoors to continue the game.
Manolo El Chiquitin, coach of the elderly side who's just 47, says: "While they are training they don't remember the problems that they have left at home or the problems that they have with their children. All the aches and pains disappear."
Another chapter to cherish in the beautiful game.
