MYSORE: As part of the Mysore Dasara festivities, the Heritage Department’s move to organise heritage walk -  in which the public and tourists are introduced to heritage structures - turned out to be a resounding success. The event elicited the participation of senior citizens, foreigners and a sizeable number of  students, notably graduates of tourism, history and archaeology, as did members of heritage clubs of  various colleges. The Heritage Department, for the walk, listed heritage structures and divided them into five routes comprising 12 structures each. Last year, structures such as the Town Hall,  Chamarajendra Circle, Krishnarajendra  Circle, Devaraja Market, Medical college, Cauvery Emporium formed part of the walk’s itinerary. In the wake of an overwhelming response, a second route has been introduced that covers heritage structures such as K R Circle, Lansdowne Building, Thattaiah Park, Jagan Mohan Palace, Parakal Mutt, Sheshadri House, Padmalaya Niranjan Mutt (Vivekananda Memorial), Bidaram Krishnappa Rama Mandiram.Conservation Engineer of Mysore City Corporation Nisha Naidu gave a commentary on the history and architecture of the buildings.  Tongas helped tourists to commute to the various illuminated heritage buildings in the Mysore.
