The special court for corruption cases gave bail to two suspects in the Gali Janardhan Reddy cash-for-bail scam on Thursday.
T Ravichandra and Aditya were both enlarged on conditional terms while the court refused bail to other suspects, including MLAs Gali Somasekhar Reddy and T H Suresh Babu and suspended judge T Pattabhirama Rao, retired judge T V Chalapathi Rao and history sheeter P Yadagiri Rao.
Apart from submitting personal bonds, Ravichandra and Aditya were asked to surrender their passports and ordered not to leave the city without informing the court. They were asked to present themselves before the ACB daily and cooperate with the investigation.
Aditya, a junior advocate, allegedly acted as a conduit between Yadagiri and relatives of Janardhan Reddy in securing bail for the latter.
In his confession to the ACB, Yadigiri Rao revealed that it was Aditya who introduced him to Janardhan Reddy’s brother Somasekhara Reddy, and another relative Dasaratharam Reddy.
The agency said Aditya received Rs 1 crore as his share of the bribe. Ravichandra, son of accused judge Pattabhirama Rao, was arrested on June 16 aftter the ACB recovered Rs 1.60 crore from five bank lockers that he and his father maintained. Meanwhile, the ACB has filed its second chargesheet in the case making Janardhan Reddy an accused in the case.
