New Delhi: Air India has grounded two pilots after a aircraft deviated from its normal flight path and descended rapidly at Hong Kong airport.
The incident took place on October 20 triggering a Ground Proximity Warning System alert, news agency ANI reported.
Air India pilots have been in news for the past few months. In November, Arvind Kathpalia, the Director of Operations, was removed from his post after he failed the alcohol test before a scheduled international flight. His licence for three years.
Kathpalia was found to have an unacceptably high blood alcohol content shortly before his flight from London to New Delhi. This was the second instance of the senior pilot failing the breathalyzer test.
Earlier, Kathpalia's flying licence was suspended in 2017 for three months by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for allegedly skipping the breath analyser test before a flight. He was subsequently removed from the post of executive director, operations, but was appointed to the post again later.
