HYDERABAD: The state government is not announcing welfare schemes and developmental programmes at Rachabanda in a casual manner. A lot of home work is done and financial sources and beneficiarries are identified before the schemes are announced. All the schemes will be implemented successfully and there can be no doubt about it,'' chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has said.
Speaking at a Rachabanda programme at Qutuballapur constituency here on Monday, he said, "All the welfare schemes and projects will be successfully completed by any means." Responding to the demands made by Qutuballapur MLA Kuna Srisailam Goud and Malkajgiri MP Sarve Satyanarayana, the chief minister said, "Qutuballapur constituency will be sactioned Rs 30 crore for development of three roads _ from Gandhi Nagar to Jagadgirigutta, from Gajularamaram to the Vivekananda statue at Kukatpally and from Kompally to Bahadurpura. He said sufficient funds would be sanctioned for drinking water supply. Besides, Rs 60 lakh would be given for construction of a stadium in the constituency, he said. Reddy said a number of steps were being taken to develop the constituency and provide amenities to people. He said ration cards were issued to 35,000 of the 45,000 applicants, and pensions to 2,500 out of 3,600 applicants. About 750 selfhelp groups (SHGs) were given Rs 15 lakh aid. Besides, efforts are on to execute the third phase of Krishna water supply project to divert 5.5 tmcft of water to the city at a cost of Rs 1,500 crore. While the Godavari drinking water project is on to bring 10 tmcft, plans are afoot to draw another 20 tmcft for which land acquisition would be taken up, he added.

An amount of Rs 1,200 crore will be spent on developmental works in the second phase of the '100 days' programme which will be launched in the capital in the first week of December. This is up from the Rs. 700 crore spent in the first round of the programme. Various civic works involving roads, bridges, parks and electricity will be taken up in this phase.

Some students of Diploma in Education (D.Ed) tried to disturb the programme demanding that they be allowed to sit for the Teacher Eligibility Test but police swiftly controlled them. Taking note of the commotion, Reddy said, ``We will think of it."
