Pataudi (Haryana): A statue of BR Ambedkar was desecrated at Pataudi village in Gurgaon on Saturday night by unidentified miscreants.
An FIR has been lodged and the state administration has assured that a new statue will be erected at the same place soon.
Meanwhile, a large crowd has gathered in the area protesting against the incident leading to chaos and jammed roads.
This is not the first incident of its kind as last year, too, a statue of Ambedkar was desecrated in Kanpur leading to widespread protests all over the country.
After the incident Congress President Sonia Gandhi had said that the Central Bureau of Investigation should investigate the matter.
"Our heads bow down with shame due to such events. No responsible member of the society should behave with Dalits in this fashion. I am sure the CBI will investigate into the matter and bring the guilty to book," Sonia Gandhi had said.
