The Third Annual Research Day would be celebrated at Christian Medical College, here, on October 5. The programme will be held on the campus of the Centre for Stem Cell Research.
According to Dr Nihal Thomas, vice-principal (research) the occasion would be an ideal platform to encourage young medical students to take up research and to create awareness among various departments in the hospital to work on inter-disciplinary projects.
Every year, CMC receives around `43 crore of research grants from various agencies and a lot of research work is undertaken, Dr Thomas pointed out. This year, as many as 70 posters outlining the individual research activities would be displayed during the day. Oral presentations by PhD scholars and some of those who had completed their doctoral degrees would also be held.
The posters would be judged by a panel of experts. CMC director Dr Sunil Chandy and principal Dr Alfed Job Daniel will address the gathering. Noted virologist and professor emeritus Dr Jacob John will be the chief guest on the occasion.
