In yet another jolt to Congress in Madhya Pradesh ahead of Lok Sabha polls, its sitting MLA from Jatara in Tikamgarh district Dinesh Ahirwar on Wednesday joined BJP in the presence of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Welcoming Ahirwar into the BJP fold, Chouhan said, "The country is facing challenges on many fronts, including external. To strengthen the country and overcome these challenges, a strong government under the leadership of Narendra Modi is needed at the Centre."

"Ahirwar has decided to join BJP to help it provide a strong government at the Centre. A BJP-led government will end discrimination against Madhya Pradesh," he said.

Ahirwar, who was in BJP before joining Congress, announced he is also resigning from his Assembly membership. He described his entry into the saffron outfit as homecoming.

Two days back, another Congress MLA Sanjay Pathak, who was elected from Vijayraghogarh in Katni district, joined the ruling party.
