Mumbai: The Bombay High Court on Tuesday granted three months temporary bail to professor GN Saibaba on medical grounds.

The court asked Saibaba to furnish a personal bond of Rs 50,000 as a guarantee. The prosecution argued that if given a bail, Saibaba may tamper with evidence but the court rejected the argument.

The suspended Delhi University professor was arrested in 2014 for his alleged Maoist links.

Saibaba, who was an English professor at Ram Lal Anand College, was arrested on May 9 by Maharashtra Police on the charges of being a member of a banned terrorist organisation (CPI-Maoist), providing logistics and helping in recruitment for the group.
