New Delhi: Film and TV producer Ekta Kapoor, whose latest production venture Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum is under the scrutiny of Censor Board, says whatever she does is considered cheap.
The 37-year-old TV mogul is miffed with Censor Board's decision to delete three scenes from the film's theatrical trailer, which will hit theatres with Ajay Devgn starrer Bol Bachchan. "Anything that Balaji does or a mainstream maker does is always being considered to be cheap and crass. If Dibakar had made this film it would have got a totally different response from Censor Board. We always suffer such prejudices," said Kapoor, who was in the Capital to present the uncut version of the trailer.
The adult comedy, which stars Tusshar Kapoor and Riteish Deshmukh in the lead, is a sequel to the 2005 film Kya Kool Hain Hum. Kapoor said she has deleted those scenes and launched a new promo for the film. "We have a sanitised, boring promo in the theatre for the ones who will be seeing Bol Bachchan. We never had issues in the film's first part. I think our society was so much cooler at that time. I thought the first part of the series will face these issues, which we are facing now," she added.
Earlier, Kapoor's Dirty Picture also faced trouble for its steamy scenes. She said making the film in Hindi was quite a challenge for her because the language is quite restrictive. "Delhi Belly was made in English because they clearly realised the power of that language in making things sound much better than they are. For us, it has been a struggle to make Hindi a language where double meaning doesn't go hand in hand and thereby becoming another lowest common denominator...
"Our movie is Hindi film industry's answer to American Pie and I think we presented it in a better way than them," she added. The film is set for July 27 release.
