HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh has got a relief with the latest order issued by the Supreme Court for continuation of further proceedings before the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal2 headed by Justice Brijesh Kumar.
The Apex Court has directed the Centre not to issue a gazette notification on the tribunal award at this juncture.Principal secretary for irrigation SK Joshi informed from Delhi on Friday that the Government of Andhra Pradesh filed a special leave petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court against the order of the Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal2 dated December 30, 2010. Maharashtra and Karnataka contended that the Supreme Court had no jurisdiction over the interstate water dispute tribunal.

However, the Apex Court is of the view that on any constitutional matter it is the final deciding authority. In view of that, the court has ordered that further proceedings under Section 5(3) will continue before the the Tribunal2.
